Atherton Neighborhoods
Atherton is an almost entirely residential town with single-family zoning, one-acre minimum lots, no commercial zoning and many streets without sidewalks. Its commonly named neighborhoods trace former estates and major roads: Lindenwood east of Middlefield Road, Atherton Oaks and Lloyden Park near the former Atherton train depot, and West Atherton and the area west of Alameda de las Pulgas.

Lindenwood
Neighborhood of about 488 homes, mostly on one-acre parcels, created in stages from James C. Flood's Linden Towers estate east of Middlefield Road after the mansion was demolished in 1936; the 1908 brick walls and "JCF" iron gates still mark its entrances. Joseph Eichler built about a dozen homes here starting in 1953 and lived in the neighborhood for 13 years.
